CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUES 

Foundations

Each construction project is strictly regulated by a Greek state engineer, especially at the earlier stages of the build, such as the foundations. They have responsibility to ensure the size of the footings, strength of concrete and gauge of steel involved are all the correct specification.

Steel Frame Construction

Metal frame constructions are a fairly new method of building for Zakynthos, which is quickly becoming popular. A steel skeleton of 3mm, 10 x 10cm box steel is either screwed or form fitted together according to the directions of the engineer.

Walls

All the walls of our houses, internal and external are eco insulated to keep them cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The external walls are then covered with nevrometal, which is a galvanised steel mesh that concrete is sprayed onto. The walls are then plastered the traditional way using local materials.

Roof

The roof is a wooden construction, using wood that has been specially treated against rot and insect damage. This is covered with a thick waterproof membrane and eco insulation panels. It is then finished with traditional red or yellow tiles.

Floors

Single story constructions are tiled throughout using best quality Spanish or Italian tiles. On double story buildings the upstairs have the option of being boarded if desired.

Bathrooms

In all our bathrooms we use the best quality porcelain sinks and baths. We include several other finishing touches such as mirrors and towel rails.

Kitchens

All kitchens are professionally fitted. There are spaces for fridge, cooker and washing machine. A range of colours are available.

Electrical Specifications

All houses are built with power points and lighting in all areas of the house. We also include a  water pump, cooker switch, extractor, air conditioning, outdoor lighting, door bell and TV aerial.

Verandas and Balconies

Our houses come with a range of options for the finish on the verandas, such as local Zakynthian slate, tiles or Stonecrete, a type of compressed concrete which gives a stone look finish in several colours and patterns. Balcony floors can be tiled or floor boarded.

External to the House

We can optionally provide finishing touches such as walls, gates, drive and parking surfaces, pool and landscaping.
